  1. Improved Filtering and Searching

The filtering and searching features currently available are limited to the name of the product only, being able to search across multiple fields, and filter more effectively would greatly improve the experience within BIMselect and help users be more efficient too.

  2. Cost Analysis & Summary

Being able to get a quick estimate of the cost of a fit out on a project can be valuable. BIMselect already has fields for tracking the price and unit of product, but with the ability to set the quantity, or area of a product, a report could be quickly generated that could give cost analysis and estimated square meter rates.

  3. Keynote Exporting

The ability to export the documentation code and an associated note as a keynote file for use within Revit would be very helpful in facilitating documentation. The note it's self would ideally be separate field associated with the product that could be set specifically for the purpose of exporting.

  4. Product Change History

For accountability it might be helpful to include a product history tab showing changes to the product made over time. Note: From a development perspective this could become complex when attempting to track changes to product variants.

  5. Schedule Analysis and Statistics

An interesting feature could be the inclusion of statistics of the schedule giving you a quick overview of different aspects of the schedules. For example: Progress bars with amount representing the amounts of different products at different states of approval, under review, etc, Number of productsNumber of categoriesTotal cost, etc. This could all be under the project title on the main schedule page. The visibility of these different statistics could be hidden if needed, and maybe their individual visibilities customizable by the Tech Manager.

  6. Product Status Indicator

Being able to show a product status on the product is helpful during the early stages of schedule development and approval. For example, a dropdown could be available to change a products status from: Under reviewAwaiting Client ConfirmationApproved, orDeleted But these could be customizable in the settings, and when printing or issuing there would be the option to exclude products with a certain status.

  7. Schedule Revisions

For formal submission of schedules, it is important to have the ability to track revisions of the schedules. Revisions will only appear when the entire schedule has been officially issued. The revisions will appear next to each product with a date and the revision letter / number.Any changes to a product will result in a revision sequence increase to that product.Once a product has been issued it shouldn't be able to be deleted. Instead, it should be marked as deleted, but still be visible (greyed out) for the next issue. For issues following this, the product can be hidden in the view, but the documentation code should not be able to be used again.

  8. Ability to lock changes to a product

If your company has products and product information that has been vetted, it may be helpful for your BIM manager to lock the editing of product information to ensure that it is not altered accidentally.

  9. Linking to other Products

When scheduling a base product, it is often necessary to also schedule the finish of that product separately if it comes from a different manufacturer. Sometimes in the base product you may list the documentation code of the finish as a reference in the notes. It would be great if there was the ability to add the product reference as link within the text of any field. This would act as a hyperlink that when clicked took us to the product in question. This hyperlink would also ideally work when exported to pdf.

  10. Improved Printing Appearance

The appearance of products when printed needs to be improved. In the same way that empty fields are not visible in the schedule, they should not be visible when printing. There is a bug with the project notes and location fields where they do not word wrap correctly and run off the page. The opening page should feature the project image.

  11. Custom Fields

Giving the user the ability to add a custom field of their choosing would increase the flexibility and adaptability of the program. But this should only be able to be added by the companies Tech Manager to keep consistency amongst products. This would mean adding a custom field in the settings would make it available to add over all products.

  12. Flexible Naming of Fields

Due to language differences and different approaches to the naming of product information fields it may be helpful to allow user to change the names of the fields in the program settings.

  13. Printing of individual product sheets

It would be very helpful to be able to print individual product sheets with its picture, and information summarised to be able to pass on the clients or consultants if needed. This could also optionally include any supporting documentation that is associated with the product such as data sheets, etc.

  14. Archive function for projects

As project are finished and more are added it would be helpful to have an archive function for older projects. This could an include a toggle within the project selection space that will reveal the archived projects so that they can still be easily found by users. The archived projects would also not show when using the 'Copy to' or Move to' command, making the list smaller. From a permissions perspective, the Tech Manager level would be the only person authorized to move a project back and forth between an archived state. Finally, a project in an archived state would ideally be locked, so no accidental changes could be made to it.

  15. Product fields formatting improvement

It would be great if some additional formatting options were made available for the multi-line fields such as product details. Currently, if we want to start a new paragraph, upon saving it concatenates the paragraphs back together into one block.
